The 2011 World Medical Tourism was held in Chicago, Illinois USA from Oct 25 to 28 by Medical Tourism Association (MTA). The is the largest medical tourism event in the world open to everyone.
The congress attracted 2,000 attendees and 120 exhibitors / sponsors from 90 countries from various sectors: government representatives, global healthcare leaders, insurance industry giants, medical tourism facilitators and healthcare management professionals.
Dr. Robert Rey world renowned plastic surgeon, specialist in minimal scar plastic surgery, who featured on the E! reality series Dr. 90210 spoke on “Building an International Surgical Practice.”
Patrick Goodness, the CEO of the Goodness Company, had a presentation on “The Future of the Medical Tourism marketing.”
John Casey, Director of International Benefits at Google Inc., was among the speakers. He gave insight into how to create the “healthiest employee in the world.”
The Medical Tourism is a growing industry. In 2009 – 2010, 500,000 Americans traveled abroad for medical services. The industry is expected to reach $100 billion in 2012.
